EXPLORE OUR MODALITIES

There are many different ways to provide mental health therapy and those methods are called modalities. In the same way that a doctor might prescribe hot or cold therapy for an injury, our therapists may recommend a combination of different approaches to reach your goals.

The list of modalities is long and ever growing as advances are made in treating mental health. The modalities we choose to use are proven and effective.  Explore the list below to become more familiar with a world that loves to use acronyms.

DBT

DBT is a treatment therapy that consists of four core areas of skill training: mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance.  DBT can be a part of individual sessions and can be quite effective when studied as a group.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is a modality for resolving unprocessed traumatic memories and events that have occurred in your life. Sessions will evolve from building needed resources to addressing the trauma. There is a possibility of completing EMDR therapy in fewer sessions than other therapies

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy functions from the idea that the way a person thinks and feels affects their behavior.  Identifying, challenging and changing maladaptive thinking patterns to encourage healthier responses is a key component of this therapy.  CBT is typically a short-term treatment protocol and a main staple of many therapy practices.
